Weight Loss Results: Week 53



Losing weight is a process. And, to be honest, the last couple months I haven't wanted to worry about that process. So, I wasn't logging my foods, wasn't running often & didn't post updates on this blog. I'm ok with that. I needed a break.

But, here it is the new year and I will be running my first half marathon in May. So, it's time to regroup & focus on getting/staying healthy.

Before I move on to new goals, though, I'm going to use this post to reflect on my goals of 2014.

In April I hit my goal of losing 15 pounds.
In July I reached my ultimate 2014 goal of getting my BMI out of the obese category

Unfortunately, I didn't reach my goal of losing 30 pounds in 2014. But, I'm close. It could even happen this first month of 2015.



 • FOOD •
I like food. In 2014 I never completely gave up any of my favorites. I have found that when I say I can't have something, it makes me want it that much more. Then, I eat way too much of it. But, what I did instead was plan the majority of my breakfasts & lunches. That way I wasn't as hungry for the unhealthy stuff.

I also found that I ate much better if I logged my foods on My Fitness Pal. I got tired of obsessing over every little thing I ate and logging it, so I didn't keep with it the entire year. But, it really does work for me... except that I tend to get grumpy when I see how quickly calories add up in a day.

Breakfast for nearly the entire year was Atkins shakes or bars. They are quick, taste good, high in protein & low in carbs.

Many days I had some kind of salad for lunch.

To lessen my soda habit, I started drinking Advocare Spark. I love it!
I can't seem to fully give up soda, especially fountain coke or pepsi. But, thanks to Spark I have cut way, way back and rarely drink soda at home.



   • EXERCISE •
Running/Jogging/Walking is my exercise of choice. I started in 2013 and have continued with it. I'm not fast, but I'm faster than I was.

 • RESULTS •

Little by little I lost weight in 2014. At the beginning, I was frustrated that the pounds weren't just falling off. Apparently quick weight loss isn't my thing. That is what frustrated me in previous attempts to lose weight. This time, though, I stuck with it even though I was ticked off. And, one short year later I'm 27 pounds lighter.

27 is not quite the 30 I was hoping for. But, I didn't work much at it in November or December. If I had, I'm sure I would have lost the 30 pounds. I am thrilled, though, that I didn't gain weight over Christmas break.
