31 Days in Oregon: Hoyt Arboretum

• thirty-one day challenge •
{DAY 25}
Portland Area

Hoyt Arboretum is a living museum of trees and shrubs within Portland's Washington Park. There are many miles of trails to explore & greenery to please the eye.

There is a small Visitor's Center.

The Wildwood series is available to purchase in the Visitor Center. The setting for Wildwood is based right here in Portland's urban forest. Remember way back at Day 1 of this 31 day challenge my post about Pittock Mansion? Well, Pittock Mansion plays a role in the Wildwood stories, as well.

I just love this tree in the middle. It's huge & weeping.

I believe it's called a European Beech.

In the spring, many shrubs are in bloom.

Evergreen shrub, Ceanothus thyrsiflorus, aka Blue Blossom

In the fall there are many interesting seeds & berries.

This was just a smidgen of what you can see at Hoyt Arboretum. Each season brings its own unique view.
