Salt Dough Snowflake Suncatchers

Looking for crafty things to do during the cold, snowy days, I found a suncatcher garland at Homegrown Friends. That's something we haven't tried before, so we gave it a whirl.

We started with a basic salt dough recipe - 2 cups flour, 1 cup salt & 1 cup water. Mixed it all together, rolled the dough out & used a snowflake cookie cutter to make the snowflakes. We didn't have a smaller sized snowflake cutter, so we used a knife to cut out the middle. We had leftover baking crystals from a Makeit & Bakeit kit, so we used those to fill the middle of our snowflakes.

The snowflakes were then placed in a 375° oven for an hour and a half. The salt dough was done before then, but the baking crystals were taking awhile to melt completely.

After they cooled, we painted them white. While the paint was wet, we sprinkled on glitter.
