Thanksgiving Activities

This year we didn't do many Thanksgiving themed activities, but we did manage to squeeze a couple things in.

Last year at Thanksgiving time we worked on the Plymouth Colony History Pockets from Evan-Moor. This year we're using the Native American History Pockets. The pockets are divided into 8 different tribes in different regions of North America. The book has the Iriquois as the tribe from the northeast. I changed it to the Wampanoag, since this is the tribe who ate the first Thanksgiving feast with the Pilgrims.

At a scout meeting, Mr. T's den performed a skit based on the book This First Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving morning all 5 of us completed the 4 mile Turkey Trot at the zoo.

The kids did great. They ran some, they jogged some & they walked some. We finished the race in 1:10, which I thought was fantastic.
